mister lonely vs. michael jackson

looks like michael jackson's untimely death might rocket sales on mister lonely.

i feel some of the monologue pieces harmony wrote for michael jackson, seem almost true to his life and the way he felt during his last few years of his life, battling with the faith of his career, his financial burdens and himself.

i was a big fan of his work and sadden by his death. i don't know if you feel the same.

The first thing I thought about when I heard.

It's a bit ironic how the media and Hollywood spent years painting him as this crazy pedo villain, and now that he's gone, you know there'll be a movie about his life with Christian Bale or Zac Efron or something; 'His Life in Images' on rotation every hour for the next month; they'll probably name this day after him; Obama will probably get up and say something stupid; etc. etc.

I can't imagine many people being upset about this, other than those die-hard fans, but I guess there are probably still a lot of them... it's all a bit Charles Foster Kane, isn't it?

i rewatched mister lonely yesterday in a sort of tribute. the last time i saw it was in the theaters and it felt really uneven. but i was also on the boards here a lot leading up to its release, snatching up and chewing over every small detail and interview that was released. so i had worked up an unfair expectation i think.

now that time has passed, i dig every choice harmony made and think the movie really works and stirs genuine emotions. i think it's kind of an amazing movie - taking place in three different countries, there's some really great cinematography, etc. i mean, there's a sizable budget being exercised here in support of such an abstract concept.

its a fitting tribute to jackson. it asks good questions about identity and loneliness. it never makes any low blows. i wonder if he ever saw the movie or made any comments on it before he died...

I find his death very depressing too, it really breaks my heart. It feels silly to say but I genuinely miss him. He was a big part of my childhood, and in later life, which I can't really say of any other artist that I liked at a young age, he still played a part. I really feel very fortunate to have been alive at the same time as him. I think others born outside his time missed out on something incredibly special, like coming into a world without elephants or tigers.

well said brutus. he was a part of my life from the time i was born till now. you don't meet or live with many artist with the magnitude Michael has. it's still shocking, like very surreal. i think because of the many rumors and hoax the media puts out to the public about Michael.

this is the one artist, i regret i didn't have an opportunity to see live.

I've never voluntarily listened to his music but there was always some comfort in knowing he was around. A fixture of reality is gone and it's displeasing.

people were always fixated at the power of his aura. it's almost spellbinding to watch his concerts, where people from the front row would just be in tears or even rows that were eye bleeding seats would faint at the site of him. there's a clip where they literally had tons of fans laid out on the floor in blankets...

i find no other artist, even madonna has the magnitude and height that michael reached. i think he surpassed elvis, because of the many generations and the re-invention within his character. i don't doubt that the world will stop at the site of his procession which in my mind will be beyond princess diane or even the million man march.

Michael Jackson: I don't know if you know what it is like to want to be someone else, to not want to look like you look, to hate your own face and to go completely unnoticed. I have always wanted to be someone else. I have never felt comfortable the way I am. All I want is to be better than myself, to become less ordinary and to find some purpose in this world. It is easier to see things in others, to see things you admire and then try and become that. To own a different face, to dance a different dance, and sing a different song. It is out there waiting for us, inviting us to change. It is time to become who we are not. To change our face and become who we want to be. I think the world is a better place that way.

It is not so sad anymore. I was really bothered by it for a time there though, but now all feels as it should be.

I pre-ordered some time ago, three or more months past maybe, two of these Michael Jackson 12-inch figures below, I don't know if people here have seen them before. They're possibly being released this month or the next. They were a terrible price, $200 each, and so that's why I bought two, so that I could later sell the second and maybe make a profit to cut into the price of the one I keep.

There is no set date for the release yet, but any day now, they say...

I'm really freaked out by the amount of extra hands they give you. all these severed hands. too many.
