Yeah, it's wonderful. The opening reminded me of Jodorowsky's Holy Mountain in a weird way. I loved the non linear structure - Ramsay has never disappointed me with any of her films. Even her short films are masterpieces - Gasman and Small Deaths are two of the best short features I've ever seen - they're both on YouTube if you haven't seen them.

Both worth a look see, I promise.

I just watched The Innkeepers last night and that was an incredible piece of horror, really well done. Better than Ti West's last feature The House Of The Devil (also brilliant) - I would count it as 2011 (it just hit VOD on Dec 30) but it comes out theatrically in February so I count it as 2012. None the less, it's worth the watch.

Yeah I love her films, Ramsay is the closest filmmaker to Korine. I remember he gave her some advice once: "Don't be scared."

Thanks for letting me know The Innkeepers is online now, I've been looking forward to it. I'm downloading it as we speak. The House of the Devil was really great. Ti West sets a wonderful mood.

Yeah, her debut Ratcatcher is an absolute masterpiece and my favourite of hers, I'm glad you're a fan of her work.

And, wow. I can only imagine the scene of the two of them meeting. Damn.

so i watched O.C. and Stiggs on netflix a month ago for the first time. it has quickly become one of my favorites. it's so great. i don't understand the hate the film has gotten. two teens who listen to african roots music and aggressively terrorize a rich man. i remembered seeing it on one of harms lists of favs, so im sure that if anyone loves the film theyre on the board. O.C. and Stiggs definitely deserves love.

I'll say Trust me or The Unbelievable Truth, both great films.

nice list. I noticed everything is post 1960. Is there a reason behind that? Do you tend to gravitate toward more modern cinema, or have you just not checked out that much pre 1960 cinema?

I've just discovered 60's cinema, a year ago i was only interessed in 2000's independant american films. I just haven't checked yet pre 60 it's still pretty new to me.

The Night of the Hunter (1955) is a great start if you haven't already seen.

Rebel Without a Cause 1955 Nicholas Ray
The Public Enemy 1931 William A. Wellman
Plan 9 From Outter Space 1959 Edward D. Wood Jr

and Buster Keaton's body of work is pretty entertaining

My top 5 favorite films are Aguirre the Wrath of God, Gummo, The Human Condition, Berlin Alexanderplatz, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The rest march behind that, and there's a lot more that I can list but due to fear of leaving some out or screwing up the order, I will only list my top 5.
