He absolutely slaughters the track.

Love that Nasty track, have you heard his latest single "The Don" ? Even better than Nasty imo.

as long as he brings it back to anything close to Illmatic, I'll be happy. I dont know if you remember when Nas first came out, but people out here were losing their goddam minds over how nice he was. there'd be tracks like these on the middle of a second side of a mixtape that youd come across and be like "what the fuck?"

seriously, what did you expect? out of the whole crew, earl and tyler are the only ones who can rhyme and tyler's schtick was old when he started. if youre going to be nihilistic, be nihilistic, all the "disclaimers" on goblin onky served to illustrate how disingenuous the entire pose was/is. left brain can pull some interesting productions out and im a fan of frank ocean's work, but theyve been bricking for a while. the whole fervor over them was based on the nature of their rise, thru social networks and appearing to be sort of "punk rock" but there's not a whole lot of substance underneath beyond the same old tired tropes that confuse misogyny and misanthropy with a "radical" posture. that said, the live show looks to be pretty good, theres a lot of energy there, and perhaps if they get earl back into the fold and have a few months to pull shit together, they'll turn out to be alright. but given the omnipresent nature of the internet feeback loop, i dont think theyll be able to do it and will remain an version of the insane clown posse with slightly more cachet.

I partially agree, and I'm a fan of their stuff. I never really took any of their music seriously. I wouldn't compare them to such artists/groups like Wu-Tang or Eyedea, but I think they're stuff is a lot of fun. Even original at times. Tyler and the group reminds me of my friends & I back in the day; skating and goofing-off. Earl is obviously the superior one of the group as far as talent goes. He'll go far if he'd really like to. Tyler, I like a lot, although I do think is schtick is getting old, like you said. I was disappointed when Goblin was released - I was so hyped about it. Maybe he'll mature as he grows. Leftbrain, Hodgy, and Domo (sometimes) are good, but like I said: hit & miss.

Seriously though, how can you not want to hang out with Tyler? He's fucking hilarious.

i dont knock the hustle and i see the talent there, but to me, as an old head i guess, shit is wildly inconsistent. i think the fact that they have a lot of disparate elements like the jet age stuff, frank ocean and the internet, is promising. wu-tang, which i love to death, is just variations on the same, admittedly great, theme. so being varied and savvy and having the cushion of a crazily loyal fanbase, if these kids can keep it together for a while, i think they might hit a stride and start making stuff of value. but again, and this was a conversation i was having with a friend also in his thirties, this music is not for me, just like all the screamo, scene bands that are coming out now. they seem terrible and derivative to me, but its not made for me, so maybe i cant appreciate it. i had an uncle who, like 15 years ago, had the same pose that i have now when i was trying to talk to him about post hardcore and post rock bands that i was listening to at the time. maybe its just a generational thing, but i dont see the same quality. that said, i cant deny the energy in a clip like this one

I don't think anyone has posted this yet. It's been causing a lot of controversy. Apparently, YouTube has already taken it down a bunch of times:

Yeah. LiveLoveA$AP is a great album. I love everything Clams does. He makes Soulja Boy tolerable.
