NSTC above the below?????

Postby Anonymous » Sat Apr 17, 2004 11:54 am

i can't find a single USA compatible version of this damn movie on DVD or VHS anywhere!!!! I've checked ebay countless times and all I ever find is PAL versions. Is there any other places I may be able to find what i'm looking for??? Or is there any way anybody that owns the PAL version could somehow convert it to a USA-compatible format. I would be willing to pay you up to 35 dollars for it, no strings attached. Just let me know if there's anything I can do.

i'm happy i could help. i will help you more now...stay away from SCAD! do not come to Savannah, Georgia unless your goal in life is to hang around and eat fried chicken or to be shot. this place sucks ass and the school is a big fucking joke. anyway do what you want. my girlfriend and i have been here for 6 months and we are leaving in 2. worse place i've ever been. this place is named one of the biggest art enviroments in america, which is a fucking lie. there is no fucking art here. around here kids think the film Snatch is art. hahahahaha. just don't make the same mistake i did. i'll get on ATB ASAP. like i said before NO MONEY!!! if you can toss me a film i haven't seen that would be cool but I DO NOT MAKE MONEY OFF ANYONES FILMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'd rather just do you a favor. i want nothing in return...unless you have another film in return.

if you don't mind watching it on a computer or anything... quality isn't very good though

Lol yea, I kinda know what ur saying here. I was talking to one of the film professors and he almost had an orgasm when I mentioned Godard and Fassbinder. He said none of his students EVER mentioned them as influences or even as filmmakers they had heard of. He seemed as surprised as could be that I'm only 17 and I'm talking on his level. He was saying how all even his best students wanna do is blow shit up and kill people in their films, which saddened me when he talked about trying to show them "Breathless" and the really pure stuff to try and inspire them. It's no surprise his eyes lit up with the discovery of somebody with some real knowledge teaching kids like that.

Anyway, I still really wanna go to scad. I understand what your saying but all I really plan to do is hang out with the people that don't even go to scad. I'm not going to use their fucking pretensious actors. I'm going to recruit from the stores and streets like Harmony and find the real talent. The only stuff I'm going to use the college for is their equipment and their software......and I also want a cinematographer cause I don't shit about that. Anyway yea, I plan to be very much unaffiliated with the school. I'll make friends and stuff but I plan to really distance myself from the film buff crowd. It sounds like an ugly, pretensious group of artsy fucks. I'll probably hang around with people in other majors.

Anyway, I still really wanna go to scad. I understand what your saying but I don't really plan to conform to too much of the stuff they seem to expect me to. I'll really be making films THRU them than WITH them. I plan to mostly hang out with people that don't even go to the school. There's no chance I'm going to use their fucking pretensious actors in my films. I'm going to recruit from the stores and streets like Harmony and find the real talent. I plan to be very much unaffiliated with the school. I'll make friends and stuff but I plan to really distance myself from the film buff crowd they have there....90% of the film crowd. It seems to be an ugly, pretensious group of artsy fucks. I saw 2 seconds of some of the films they had made on the tour of the Hamilton (the film part of the campus) and I could see absolutely no energy or care for cinema in any of it.

So yea, if I even hang out with Scad people, I'll probably hang around with people in other majors, lol. It'll be just me and my cinematographer....and MAYBE.....just MAYBE.....ONE actor....or more likely, one actress.

when i went there to look around i talked to one of the film professors and he was telling me that one of the biggest interests of students and teachers was studying the cinematography of The West Wing and tv dramas like it. i wasn't impressed. they do have a shitload of equipment though. it's weird though...my neighbor is a film major there and he says a lot of the equipment they have can't be used because of new deals through the school and only certain cameras and editing programs can be used. politics. my girlfriend goes there for photograpghy and she likes it. i can't wait to leave. good luck though.

yeh many thanks for that amazon link! it is really great that this is available on dvd!

cause of that amazon.co.uk link, i thought about visiting the german (amazon.de) site of amazon and i was SOOO suprised cause i found : above the below as dvd import from uk :) [for 30€]

after that, i searched for some fassbinder movies, and saw, that amazon.de got some imports from uk, and that some movies from him are released on dvd , too (i never saw them anywhere and many people told me they are not available).

i'll order them directly from amazon :D :) many thanks for that information mate
